The Forgotten Mode NO ONE Talks About! Soul Survivor | Hunt: Showdown 1896

Hi guys, Rex here! Today we’re diving into a Hunt: Showdown mode that doesn’t get talked about much – and one I’ve never covered on the channel before: Soul Survivor. Soul Survivor is a solo mode where up to 12 players spawn into a match, scavenge weapons, tools, and consumables, and fight until only one remains.

To get started, head to the Home tab, click Play, and select Soul Survivor. Here you can choose one of four cosmetic hunters and pick your starting weapon type: medium range, short range, or melee. There’s also a random option if you want to leave it up to chance. Personally, I usually go with medium range since it has a chance of giving me the Hunting Bow as a starter. Once the match begins, you’ll loot from the blue boxes scattered around the map. You can also find supply points with stronger weapons, but unlike in Bounty Hunt, these aren’t marked on your map.

Overall, Soul Survivor feels much more like a battle royale than a traditional Hunt match. Each clue you collect grants you a random trait. The first player to grab four clues becomes the Wellspring carrier—basically making you the bounty. From then on, everyone else can see your location on the map and gains unlimited Dark Sight boost on you, letting them track you through all surfaces. On top of that, the Wellspring carrier is confined to a large circle around the spot where they picked up the final clue, somewhat similar to the shrinking zones in other battle royale games.

The match is time-limited, with the timer shown in the top left. When it runs out, all remaining players die except the Wellspring carrier, who is crowned the Soul Survivor. The Wellspring can also win early by killing everyone else – and on top of that, each kill reduces the timer which adds more pressure for other players to make a move! Winning a match lets you keep your hunter and all the gear you collected, making Soul Survivor a great way to stock up on equipment or enjoy a low-risk, high-reward experience.

Unlike Bounty Hunt or Clash, Soul Survivor doesn’t use strict MMR matchmaking. Lobbies can mix anything from 1 to 6-star players, making each game unpredictable. From my experience, when there are enough players, it does try to balance lobbies, but if the queue is thin, it simply mixes everyone together. I’ve even hosted community Soul Survivor events, where viewers queued with me to try and land in the same lobby. In those, I noticed high-star players often grouped together while lower-ranked players ended up in separate lobbies—so while matchmaking isn’t strict, it still seems to aim for fairness when possible.

This video features some awesome Soul Survivor matches packed with crazy action—so without further ado, let’s dive in!
