The NEW Burgess Is Unlike ANY Other Shotgun… | Hunt: Showdown 1896

Intro:

Update 2.9 introduces a brand-new shotgun with a pretty unique concept.

The Burgess is a full-sized, long-barrel shotgun that only takes up three weapon slots, thanks to a unique folding design that comes at the cost of significantly longer swapping times.

It’s a slide-action shotgun with a massive six-round magazine plus one additional shell in the chamber.

It also ejects a round when reloading, which can be prevented with Bulletgrubber.

For custom ammo, the Burgess supports Dragon Breath, Flechette, Penny Shot and Slugs.

There are also two additional variants: the Burgess Bayonet, which adds a blade attachment, and the Burgess Trauma, which turns its heavy melee attack into a hammer strike.

While the Burgess certainly looks strong on paper, the tradeoff is very real. And today, we’re putting it to the test to see how it actually performs in the current meta.

But, without further ado, let’s dive into it!

Outro:

After spending some time with the Burgess, I’ve got to say — this thing feels really good.

Overall, it was satisfying and fun to use, performed well, and felt surprisingly consistent throughout my games.

The folding mechanic is also awesome, but you definitely feel that extra swap time when you’re caught in a pinch. There were several situations where I was basically waiting for the shotgun to get ready while the enemy was already aiming at me.

That’s going to take some getting used to, and I think proper movement and positioning while swapping to the Burgess is going to be really important.

But the real strength of this weapon is obviously that three-slot requirement.

Once it’s unfolded, you’re essentially getting the firepower of a full-sized shotgun while only taking up three slots, which gives you a ton of flexibility when putting together a loadout — especially with Quartermaster.

And honestly, I wouldn’t be surprised if something like Berthier plus Burgess with Quartermaster ends up becoming one of the dominant meta loadouts in Update 2.9.

But now I want to hear YOUR opinion! What do YOU think of the new shotgun? Do you think it has the potential to shift the META, and which weapons will you be pairing it with?

Let me know in the comments, and until next time, I’ll see you in the Bayou!
