Hi guys, Rex here!
The Springfield is a single-shot medium ammo rifle. It comes with two main variants: the regular full-sized Springfield, and the Shorty. The regular Springfield has a Marksman scope variant, while the Shorty has a Deadeye scope variant called the Bullseye. This weapon can fire regular medium ammo as well as four special ammo types: Dumdum, High Velocity, Poison, and Explosive ammo.
I personally prefer a combination of Dumdum and High Velocity ammo. The Dumdum causes severe bleeding, while the High Velocity ammo brings the bullet speed up to 615 meters per second, which is on par with the Mosin Nagant. The Springfield may not be the strongest rifle overall, but it’s very cheap and effective for the price, which makes it an excellent choice for budget loadouts. The scoped variants also make for a fantastic secondary to the bow or any weapon that lacks long range.
I played the Springfield for a couple of days, and this video features my best rounds. Let’s dive into it!
After having watched this video you can probably tell that Springfield, when used correctly, can be very effective. The biggest issue I have with this rifle as a solo player is that it is not very effective for solo vs trio gameplay on its own, due to relatively low damage potential and slow fire rate.
Due to this fact I found it necessary to pair it with a weapon that could handle the close-range encounters effectively. In this case I ended up running a lot of Rival Shorty, which required me to run the Quartermaster trait, but I also ran Conversion pistol with FMJ ammo and Fanning a fair amount.
If you play in a team you probably won’t have much of an issue with a regular rifle and pistol loadout, but for all of you solo players out there I recommend a more well-rounded loadout that covers any scenario.
What do YOU think about the Springfield? Let me know in the comments, and until next time I’ll see you in the Bayou!
