This Budget Loadout Hits Like A TRUCK! 1865 Carbine Aperture & New Army | Hunt: Showdown 1896

Hi guys, REX here — and welcome back to my budget loadout series, where I cover cheap but reliable setups I genuinely recommend you try out. Together with my community, I’ve set an upper price limit of 600 Hunt Dollars per loadout — keeping things affordable without sacrificing overall versatility and firepower.

Today we’re running the 1865 Carbine Aperture paired with the New Army— and this build absolutely punishes players who are missing even a small amount of health.

The 1865 Carbine hits incredibly hard. With 145 damage, it becomes a one-shot to the torso in close to mid range whenever a hunter is missing a small health chunk — or just a few hitpoints. And as the match progresses, that becomes more common. Revives, fire damage, traps, AI pressure — all of it plays into this weapon’s strength.

The biggest downside is the low muzzle velocity. At 340, you really have to lead your shots on moving targets at longer distances.

So why pick the Aperture variant? For just four Hunt Dollars more than the regular 1865, you get the option to flip up the sight when needed. I mostly play it with the regular iron sights, but being able to quickly toggle the aperture for better vision at distance is incredibly helpful. At that price, there’s really no reason to run the regular variant.

For my sidearm, I chose the New Army with DumDum ammo. It’s fast, reliable, and great for finishing weakened targets if the 1865 doesn’t kill — but the bleed also allows you to apply pressure in a pinch.

I’m also bringing alert trip mines with this setup. They deal 25 damage when triggered — which is enough to fully burn a small health chunk. That instantly puts players into one-shot range for the Carbine afterward, but you can also use the traps to burn downed hunters, allowing you to skip the flare pistol or fusees in your build.

Trait-wise, for solo I’m running Necromancer, Blast Sense, Vigilant, Magpie, Dauntless, and Poacher. Blast Sense shows explosions and gunshots up to 200 meters away in Dark Sight, which helps you narrow down player positions effectively. Poacher pairs nicely with the alert trip mines, letting you trap aggressively during combat without anyone realizing.

In teams, I’d skip Magpie, Dauntless, and Poacher in favor of Resilience. If you prefer the dark sight boost, Magpie can replace Vigilant – but I personally never enter a match without it.

The total cost for this loadout is 595 Hunt Dollars.

If you want to cut it down further, you can remove Dumdum ammo, swap the New Army for a Conversion, downgrade the stamina shot, and adjust tools to knuckle knife and chokes for teamplay. That brings the total all the way down to 402 Hunt Dollars — which is insanely efficient for the kind of pressure and lethality this loadout brings.

But without further ado — let’s dive into it.
