Hi guys, Rex here!
The Infantry 73L is a compact ammo levering rifle that comes with two main variants: the regular iron sight, and the sniper rifle.
This rifle is nearly identical to the Ranger 73 that I recently did a Mastery video for, so make sure to check that one out if you missed it.
There are some notable differences though. The most obvious difference is that the ranger has a swift variant featuring a speed loader, while the Infantry doesn’t.
Secondly the Infantry has a sniper scope variant unlike the Ranger, which doesn’t feature any scopes at all.
For ammo types, both rifles can run the same variants, all covered in my Ranger video, and stats-wise they are nearly identical.
Interestingly enough, the Infantry outperforms the Ranger by very small margin as it has slightly higher drop range and slightly lower recoil.
At the end of the day you could say they are identical, and so it comes down to whether you prefer faster reloading, marginally better performance or a sniper scope.
Should you go with the sniper variant, the drop range is a whooping 145 meters by default, and 175 meters with High Velocity ammo, making it extremely effective at landing head shots on longer distances.
Since the Infantry is a levering rifle, you typically want to grab the Levering trait when possible if you’re playing the iron sight variant.
You can lever the sniper variant as well but generally speaking I don’t bother taking the leverage trait if I’m sniping, as I usually bring a weapon for close range instead – for example a bow or a shotgun.
I played the Infantry 73L iron sight and sniper variants for a couple of days, and this video features the best rounds.
At the end of the video I’ll share my thoughts and recommendations for these weapons – but without further ado, let’s dive into it!
After having played the Infantry 73L for a couple of days, my experience was exactly as expected.
Playing this weapon with Levering feels amazing, and I never seem to grow tired of it.
This weapon can hold its own in just about any range once you assign the Levering trait, leaving you the option to play whatever you want for your sidearm.
For this reason, I played a hand crossbow with revive- and choke bolts for utility in team play, or a conversion pistol with FMJ to stack more ammo if I played solo.
For the sniper rifle I mostly ran the hunting bow as my secondary, giving me the option to cover all ranges effectively.
Like I mentioned in the beginning of this video, I would make sure to always grab the Levering trait for the iron sight variant, but for the sniper variant I don’t feel it’s necessary, however this comes down to preference.
For ammo types I generally always run FMJ if I’m Levering, as it allows me to effectively wallbang enemies behind cover.
For sniping, a higher velocity is preferable and hence I always run High Velocity ammo for the sniper variant.
I typically wouldn’t bother running fire, poison or subsonic ammo for this weapon unless you have a very specific reason to do so, for example a weekly challenge or as a part of a meme loadout.
As I mentioned at the start of this video, I recently posted a video of the Ranger 73 so make sure to check that out if you enjoyed this one!
What do you think about the Infantry 73L, and what is your favorite variant for this weapon? Let me know in the comments, and until next time I’ll see you in the Bayou!
