This Budget Shotgun Loadout Is BRUTAL! Rival & Spitfire | Hunt: Showdown 1896

Hi guys, REX here — and welcome back to my budget loadout series, where I cover cheap but reliable setups I genuinely recommend you try out.

Together with my community, I’ve set an upper price limit of 600 Hunt Dollars per loadout. I’ll keep things as cheap as possible without sacrificing efficiency — and I’ll always show you where you can cut costs further if you want to run these on an absolute budget.

Today we’re running the Rival 78 paired with the Scottfield Spitfire — a very aggressive close-to-mid range loadout built around pressure, strong follow-up potential, and reliable firepower.

On the Rival 78, I’m running regular buckshot.

The Rival is one of my favorite shotguns in Hunt simply because having two barrels gives you a lot more flexibility during fights.

You can quickly drop one player and immediately follow up on a second target without having to reload, which makes the Rival extremely dangerous.

To complement the shotgun, I’m bringing the Scottfield Spitfire with regular ammo.

The biggest strength of this loadout is how quickly it lets you capitalize on mistakes. Between the Rival’s two barrels and the Spitfire’s fire rate, you can maintain constant pressure and punish anyone who is out of position.

The biggest weakness is definitely long range. You don’t really have much to lean on for players sitting at long range, and while landing headshots with the Spitfire at longer distances is possible, it’s definitely not something this loadout is built around.

Trait-wise, I typically run Necromancer, Vigilant, Blast Sense, Magpie, Dauntless, and Kiteskin for my first 10 points in solos. Kiteskin is really nice to have with shotgun loadouts because you’ll often be dropping onto enemies or jumping from high places.

For teams, I would skip the last 3 traits and take Resilience instead.

The Spitfire also works really well with Fanning if you happen to find it during a match, but with the Rival already covering close range so well, it’s more of a nice bonus than something the loadout really depends on.

For tools, I’m bringing the Knuckle Knife, Medkit, Flare Pistol, and Choke Bombs.

And for consumables, I’m bringing a Small Vitality Shot, a Small Regeneration Shot, a Large Stamina Shot, and a Waxed Dynamite.

Altogether, this loadout comes in at 583 Hunt Dollars, which keeps it comfortably under the 600 Hunt Dollar limit for this series.

And if you want to make it cheaper, the Scottfield Spitfire is the biggest expense here. You can replace it with almost any pistol you like, but as always, the Conversion Pistol is insanely good value for only 55 Hunt Dollars.

If you want to cut costs even further, you can replace the flare pistol with fusees and downgrade the stamina shot.

Overall, this is a very simple but highly effective budget loadout that heavily rewards good positioning, accurate shots, and aggressive decision-making.

But without further ado, let’s dive into it!
