This HITSCAN Rifle Is INSANE! Lebel Mastery | Hunt: Showdown 1896

Intro

Hi guys, REX here! The Lebel is a long ammo rifle that comes in 4 variants: The standard iron sight, the aperture, the marksman and the talon. When looking at the stats, all four variants are very similar, however, there are some minor differences. The aperture performs just the same as the default iron sight but has the added benefit of an additional aperture scope that can be flipped up or down as needed. This is bound to X by default on PC. The aperture variant costs 417 dollars instead of the default 397, making it a better choice overall considering the rifle plays just the same when the scope is flipped down – whilst giving you the option for better zoom on long range when needed. The talon, like the base Lebel variant and the aperture, shares the exact same stats, but has a modified stock that allows for incredibly hard-hitting melee attacks that also cause bleeding. Finally, the marksman variant has a marksman scope instead of the regular iron sights, and as such it also has a larger hip fire spread, making it somewhat less effective in close range.

When we’re looking at the stats of the Lebel, it is easy to see why this rifle is so popular. The damage for all variants Is 132, which is well within the torso one-shot range once a hunter is missing a health chunk. The default drop range is 140 meters, which is very solid – and this can be further enhanced by spitzer ammo which I will get into shortly. What makes the Lebel stand out more than anything is the incredibly high base velocity of 630 meters per second, making it the highest velocity rifle in the game. While 630 might sound like a lot, it is nothing compared to the spitzer value. With spitzer ammo equipped, the Lebel velocity is pushed to 850 meters per second, greatly outperforming any other rifle in Hunt: Showdown. Spitzer also adds 25 meters to the drop range, which brings it up to 165 meters. While spitzer is greatly beneficial for long range combat, it does suffer from increased recoil and significantly lower damage. On the plus side, spitzer has incredible penetration power, and is one of two ammo types in the game that can penetrate more than one target. The other is the Nitro Express regular ammo, which I will cover in an upcoming Nitro Mastery video, so make sure to subscribe so you don’t miss it!

Aside from regular and Spitzer ammo, the Lebel can run incendiary as well. Incendiary long ammo will set enemy hunters on fire with the first hit up to 40 meters away unless they have the salve skin trait – in which case it takes two hits instead. Likewise, beyond 40 meters it will always take two hits to ignite a hunter. As always, incendiary ammo lacks the ability to penetrate surfaces.

The Lebel is a bolt action rifle that can perform partial reloads. This means it will eject a bullet every time you reload, but this can be countered in two ways. The easiest way to prevent wasting ammo when reloading the Lebel is to take the bullet grubber trait, which can be assigned for 4 trait points. With this trait, your hunter grabs the ejected bullet midair, and it looks absolutely sick which is an added bonus. The other method is cycle-reloading. With this method, you immediately reload before the next cycle by instantly pressing the reload button after firing the weapon. With this method you can save a lot of bullets without the need for bullet grubber, but it does require you to be aware and time it well in the middle of a fight.

In this video, I am putting the regular Lebel, the aperture and the marksman variant to the test! For my sidearm I chose the LeMat pistol, which is a fantastic side arm to any slow firing long ammo rifle as it gives you the option to switch over to shotgun mode for close range defense when needed. At the end of the video, I will give you my thoughts and recommendations for the Lebel, so stay tuned – but without further ado, let’s dive into it!

Thoughts & Recommendations

After having played the Lebel for a couple of days, here are my thoughts! First off, as I have often experienced – it took a little while for me to get into the flow of the Lebel’s incredibly high base velocity, considering I rarely play long ammo iron sight rifles. Once I got into it, it performed incredibly well – and the headshots were lining up rapidly! The iron sights on the Lebel are absolutely amazing in my opinion, and I find them very easy to use. Having the option to flip up an aperture scope is an added bonus for next to no extra expense, so I generally purchased the aperture instead of the regular Lebel. As for the marksman, it took a little while to get used to as well, as I rarely play marksman scopes at such high velocity. In comparison, the marksman scope I play the most these days is the Centennial Pointman, which has a base velocity of 540 meters per second. This means there was 90 velocity mismatch that I had to get used to, but once I got it down it started performing really well!

When it comes to ammo types, I stuck with regular ammo, as I find it to be the most consistent overall. I have never been much of a Spitzer enjoyer, but if you like long-range sniping with the marksman, spitzer ammo would be an excellent choice as the drop range is significantly higher and the velocity is near hit scan, meaning you will hardly ever have to lead your shots. As for incendiary ammo, it can be great depending on the situation, but personally I’d rather have the consistency of being able to penetrate surfaces, which incendiary ammo lacks.

In terms of price, the Lebel is quite affordable compared to other similar options, costing just 397 hunt dollars, whereas the Krag costs 450 and the Mosin costs a whopping 620. This could be another reason to run the Lebel if you want the true long-ammo experience without wasting all your cash.

But now I want to hear your opinion! What do YOU think about the Lebel, and which sidearm do you typically bring in your Lebel loadouts? Let me know in the comments, and until next time I’ll see you in the bayou!
